TRADITIONAL INDIAN CONCEPT OF PERSONALITY AND DESCRIBE THE CATELL'S PERSONALITY FACTORS ?

Charak Samhita, a famous treatise on Ayurveda, classifies people into the categories of vata, pitta and kapha on the basis of three humoural elements called tridosha. Each refers to a type of temperament, called prakriti (basic nature) of a person.

The concept is originally notable as a feature of Samkhya philosophy.

There are three gunas, according to this worldview, that have always been and continue to be present in all things and beings in the world.
These three gunas are:

>Sattva (goodness, constructive, harmonious).

>Rajas (passion, active, confused).

>Tamas (darkness, destructive, chaotic).

All of these three gunas are present in everyone and everything, it is the proportion that is different, according to Hindu worldview.

What is catell personality factors?

One such theory was proposed by psychologist Raymond Cattell. Through this approach rymond catell explained that personality is features of two trait:

>Source trait

>surface trait

Source Trait. A concept developed by Raymond Cattell, Source Traits are the building blocks or sources of human personality. Cattell believed there are 16 of these source traits. For example, a person may be reserved or outgoing, serious or happy-go-lucky, and submissive or dominant.

A surface trait is comprised of the source traits that can be observed in an individual and are easily observable and common clusters of behavior. Cattell considered source traits to be more influential than surface traits in studying personality.

Factor analysis-To measure the traits in statistical way.

Cattell's personality factors are included in the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF) that is widely used today for career counseling in education.
