Trait Approach:-

In psychology, trait theory is an approach to the study of human personality. Trait theorists are primarily interested in the measurement of traits, which can be defined as habitual patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion. And also trait theory is very interesting theory.

A trait is considered as a relatively enduring attributes or quality which an individual defers from others.A trait is stable, persistent and specific way of behavior.

Allport's trait theory:-

According to allport he described three features for personality that are mentioned below.

>Cardinal trait

>central trait

>Secondary trait

Cardinal traits: Allport suggested that cardinal traits are rare, and dominate, usually developing later in life. They tend to define a person to such an extent that their names become synonymous with their personality.for example Mahatma Gandh's-Gandian traits Ahimsa.

Central Trait. The term Central Trait refers to general characteristics that form the foundation, or most descriptive trait of an individual's personality. These are the characteristics by which you might describe a person such as honest, hard-working, intelligent, out-going, etc.

Secondary traits: Secondary traits are sometimes related to attitudes or preferences. They often appear only in certain situations or under specific circumstances. Some examples include public speaking anxiety, or impatience while waiting in line.
