HOW CAN YOU ASSES YOUR PERSONALITY ? DIFFERENT METHODS OF SELF REPORTING ?

Personality Assessment is a proficiency in professional psychology that involves the administration, scoring, and interpretation of empirically supported measures of personality traits and styles and other through psychological interventions.

Self Report :-it is a method assessing an individual's personality through asking about himself.

Methods of self report:-

The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) is a psychological test that assesses personality traits and psychopathology. Hafta way and Mickmley proposed this theory It is primarily intended to test people who are suspected of having mental health or other clinical issues.

Eysenk's personality questionnaire:-The Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI) measures two pervasive, independent dimensions of personality, Extraversion-Introversion and Neuroticism-Stability, which account for most of the variance in the personality domain. Each form contains 57 “Yes-No” items with no repetition of items.

Sixteen personality factor questionnaire(16PF )

Raymond Cattell found that variations in human personality could be best explained by a model that has sixteen variables (personality traits), using a statisical procedure known as factor analysis. Following this discovery he went on to create and promote the 16PF Questionnaire. This test uses a public domain scales from the Internation Personality Item Pool to measure the same traits.

Limitation of this types of assessment :-

>social desirability

>Acquiescence

social desirability bias is a type of response bias that is the tendency of survey respondents to answer questions in a manner that will be viewed favorably by others. It can take the form of over-reporting "good behavior" or under-reporting "bad", or undesirable behavior.

Acquiescence response bias is problematic because the interpretation of an "agree" response is very different if respondents are asked whether they agree or disagree with the posited statement.
